For centuries, researchers have been exploring the nature of consciousness. We have, only now, reached a sophisticated level of understanding, equipped with tools that allow us to see deep inside the brain. Despite scientists’ working very diligently to grasp that “I” moment, a precise comprehension remains elusive. Philosophy, however, is a subject that captivates our curiosity, prompting us to question the how and why of life—our purpose and origins. In their pursuit of understanding the meaning of life, many philosophers increasingly draw upon concepts from other scientific disciplines like biology and physics.
Sophisticated researches for consciousness are generally more spread out towards the Western and Far Eastern countries, and not as much in the Asian ones. However, lot of this research does focus on aspects such as yoga, meditation that have roots in these Asian countries. I believe it’s time for countries like India to take the lead in this field. Our ancient sages have provided profound insights through the Vedas and other revered texts regarding the origins, purpose, and destiny of humanity. With the necessary skill set, interest, and the resource, India can do a much larger justice to these researches, benefiting not only itself but the entire world.
